Business Leaders Programme

September 11 – 14, 2010: The Westin Sohna, Haryana

Consistent performance and abundant skilled manpower have enabled Indian businesses to grow rapidly in size, scope and global reach. However, in the long term, this trajectory cannot be achieved at the cost of an already fragile environment and social imbalances. Rapid geopolitical shifts, resource constraints, rising social and investor expectations, and social and environmental legacy issues jostle for attention of the corporate decision-makers as they tend to focus more on short-term profit maximization. In short, today’s business leaders operate in an increasingly complex world marked by tough choices, and they need to be able to convert challenges to opportunities.

In contrast to adopting only traditional management approaches, businesses need to identify and deploy environmental, social and economic imperatives to achieve growth, stability and prosperity, leading to a better quality of life for all concerned through (a) nurturing internal capabilities (b) engaging external constituencies (c) accelerating innovation & repositioning (d) crystallizing the company’s growth path & trajectory.

It is with this background CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development in partnership with Cornell University, The Johnson School, Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise is organising an annual executive education programme “Business Leaders Programme” with the objective of developing Strategies & Leadership for Creating Sustainable Organisations.
