'Year of Dog'

Postby megrisoft » Wed Jan 18, 2006 6:09 am

Many Chinese families in Kolkata are busy these days making plans to celebrate the Chinese New Year as the 'Year of Dog'.

The Chinese New Year commences from January 29. The Indian Chinese Association (ICA) has made preparations to showcase various facets of the Chinese culture at Swabhumi Heritage Park during the 15-day New Year celebrations.

This year's New Year celebrations will focus on bridging the communication gap between Kolkatans and Indian Chinese living in the "City of Joy".

The year 2006 is counted as the 4703rd year in the Chinese calender. The Chinese had celebrated 2005 as the 'Year of Rooster'.
