Hubli, Jan 26 (PTI) The tricolour was today hoisted in Idgah Maidan here as part of the Republic Day celebrations that passed off peacefully amid tight security and a boycott by Anjuman-e-Islam, a Muslim organisation, which recently lost a long legal battle over the ground.

People in large number attended the function organised by the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation for the first time in the wake of the Supreme Court upholding a Karnataka High Court verdict that the Idgah ground belonged to the civic body.
