The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has succeeded in discovering oil and gas from a well being drilled in Karjan taluka area of Vadodara district.

It is difficult to say about the quantity of availability of gas and oil from this well and it may take one month to estimate it, official sources told PTI over phone tonight.

This is a new site, where ONGC has started drilling a well and preliminary results give good hope of huge quantity of oil and gas in this area, they said.

"The oil and gas was spotted in this well after digging around 550 metres," a source said.

After discovery of oil and gas from Ankleshwar oil fields and Gandhar in neighbouring Bharuch district, ONGC has taken up drilling this site in Karjan.
